The US Consulate General Naha is actively supporting the US Embassy relief effort for the earthquakes and tsunamis in northern Japan. The first priority of the American Citizen Services section is to provide emergency assistance to Americans affected by the disaster, and the passport unit is currently closed for regular business. However, we are still open for emergency needs, including emergency passports. If you have emergency travel needs, please call 098-876-4211 or email to NAHAACS@STATE.GOV. Regular appointments slots will become available as soon as we are able to resume these services. Military service members may apply for passports at their military passport acceptance agent's office.
The visa section is also only able to process emergency cases at this time. Please check our website for the availability of appointments as these become available in April. Please call 098-876-4211 for any emergency needs.
Notarials are currently only being provided if required for other emergency consular services. We are not providing assistance for federal benefits programs at this time.
