Acupuncture Helping Reduce Use of Pain Killers in Army

Acupuncture and other forms of alternative and complementary medicine are helping reduce the use of opioids to block pain in Army patients, the service's assistant surgeon general said.

Advocacy Program Established for Victims

The Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh fully established a special victim's advocacy program Nov. 1, that entitles victims of sexual assault to legal representation from the moment the victim reports the crime through the conclusion of all legal proceedings against the alleged perpetrator. This program is available to Soldiers, adult dependents of Soldiers, or other qualifying sexual assault victims who are affiliated with the military when the alleged perpetrator is a Soldier.

Shuttle Service

For Carson Shuttle Ridership Increases 1,000 Percent

If the Fort Carson post shuttle seems a little busier than it used to be, that's because it is, with growth of more than 1,000 percent since October. There have been some changes in the way the shuttles are run, but a lot of Soldiers are arriving without privately-owned vehicles, said Anneliesa Barta, Sustainable Fort Carson. She briefs incoming Soldiers on the free shuttle service.
