YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- Army Children often aren't able to build stable friendships because of constant moving. To support those children and to make everlasting memories for them, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan's Child Youth & School and Services held a graduation ceremony at the R&R Bar and Grill for Pre-Kindergarteners, who successfully finished their Strong Beginnings program, June 1.

"Full of great curiosity, full of unbound imagination, and full of everlasting creativity," said Paul Stuart, deputy to the garrison commander for USAG Yongsan. "We are all here to recognize and honor these children and celebrate the fact that even though so young, they are all truly amazing."

Stuart also offered a few words of advice for the tiny graduates. He asked them to take on challenges, love learning, and remember to keep their smile wherever they go.

Over 35 Strong Beginning graduates celebrated with their parents, siblings, and relatives looking on towards their bright future. The small alumnae appreciated the support by sounding off their graduation cadence and singing a few songs.

"The children didn't stop smiling throughout the graduation," said Claudette Mohn, CYSS coordinator. "They were excited and proud of themselves to move on to next chapter of their lives."

Strong Beginnings consists of 2 full-day classes and a part-day class, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The teachers implement different learning skills such as language, mathematics, science, literacy as well as teaching children how to write their names, letters, numbers and other responsibility skills to get them ready for kindergarten.
