When dad is deployed, family life can be tough. Especially on Father's Day.

Army Children often aren't able to build stable friendships because of constant moving.

Gen. Ray Odierno, Army chief of staff, presented five Outstanding Civilian Service Awards recently at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va. One went to a woman who is rolling out a new Sesame Street initiative this week for the children of deployed parents.

Ava Petro has missed her father. For the past year, Sgt. Anthony Petro participated in security missions and helped train Afghan Security Forces in Afghanistan with the 127th Military Police Company, 759th MP Battalion.

Army Community Services Mobilization and Deployment programs throughout other installations can now incorporate lessons learned with the use of puppets and educating military-connected children.
