FORT WORTH, Texas – The Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $503.8 mil contract to Balfour-Beatty/McCarthy, Dallas, Texas on Sept 10, to design/build construction for the Fort Hood replacement hospital, Fort Hood, Texas. The 944,000-square-foot facility will replace the existing 45-year old Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and provide a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility for our service members and their families.
The $503 million project will include a hospital, outpatient clinics, ambulance garage, logistics building, central utility plant and three parking structures. The design and construction in the amount of $351 million is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Construction is scheduled to start in April 2011 completing in May 2014.
