Students give back to community

Students give back to community

Source: Special to GUIDON

Students in Military Police Basic Officer Leader Course III, Class 07-07, in conjunction with community businesses supported the Waynesville Animal Shelter Saturday with a community service project.

Students spent the day at the shelter, improving the building and donating needed items.

The shelter was in need of supply organization, so one group of students worked to create three separate shelving units.

The students also constructed an outdoor building for the shelter to collect aluminum cans to raise funds needed to operate.

Those not helping with construction, collected needed supplies. One of the groups donated cleaning supplies and the other group donated dog food.

The students also installed 18 feet of donated cabinets, and a working refrigerator that replaced the shelter's old refrigerator that didn't work and was used for storage.

The Armed Services YMCA provided lunch for the students.

Anyone interested in making a donation or providing volunteer support to the Waynesville Animal Shelter, can contact Billy Jean Walker at 528.2629.
