What are signs of drug and alcohol abuse?
There are a number of warning signs of drug and alcohol abuse such as unhealthy or abusive behavior, deterioration in family relationships, a drop in school or work performance, a change in eating and sleeping habits, red eyes, a persistent cough, etc. Note that this list is not conclusive nor does it always represent the behavior of an individual abusing alcohol or drugs. If you or someone you know is showing symptoms of alcohol or drug abuse, consult a physician for more information and care. There are many support groups for families of individuals who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol such as Al-Anon Family Groups, which are relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems.
