What kind of educational opportunities for leadership development are there for spouses in the Army?
The Army Family Team Building (AFTB) program offers leadership development classes that are free and available to all spouses. These classes are available in Army communities throughout the world and also online through their website at www.aftb.org. The Army Community Service organization also offers other classes that contribute to leader development such as the classes offered each year prior to the Army Family Action Plan symposium that takes place at most Army communities. Depending on your Soldier’s position, you may also be eligible to attend leadership development courses as part of the Pre-Command Course at Fort Leavenworth, KS; your Soldier’s branch pre-command school, the Sergeant Major's Academy, the Army War College, etc. Learn more about the educational opportunities available to you by visiting the Army Continuing Education Center at your nearest military community or through the other resources listed here.
