What kind of awards are there to recognize volunteers?
Volunteers can be recognized a number of different ways such as certificates of appreciation from the local command, selected as “Volunteer of the Month” for your organization or installation, or perhaps “Volunteer of the Year.” Sometimes it is possible to include a parking spot for the volunteer at the Commissary, Post Exchange, or other frequently visited agency on the installation. Volunteers can also be recognized with awards from higher headquarter commands, as well as official Army awards such as the Emma Marie Baird Award, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Molly Pitcher Award, Order of Saint Joan D’Arc Medallion, President’s Service Awards, and other Public Service and Military awards. There are a number of official and unofficial awards you can present to your volunteers. For more information on these awards and their nomination procedures, check with the Army Volunteer Coordinator at your nearest military installation.
