Why is it important for leaders to have diversity training?
It is important for leaders (and individuals) to have diversity training so they can demonstrate more sensitivity to the various cultural, ethnic, and other differences in their organizations. For example, workplaces today are filled with individuals of all cultures, races, genders, ages, and sexual orientations. Employees have a right to be treated equally and to be respected by their leaders and by each other. In some cases, a leader who shows a lack of sensitivity regarding an individual’s culture, gender, race, age, etc., can have grave consequences for him/her, and perhaps be a serious liability for the organization.
