A Celebration of Youth (1)

A Time for Dance and MOMC Parade Preparation at Fort Carson (11)

At Fort Carson Child, School Age Services had their MOMC Ball on the 24th at the Youth Center and it was well attended and well enjoyed by both youth, staff and parents. The Youth Center had a Middle School Spring Fling.
Aliamanu Military Reserve Celebrates MOMC with Family Fun Fest (2)

Six teenagers operated and decorated the game booths, marketed the game activity, provided customer service and awarded prizes to all the winners. The Middle School and Teen Program generated $567.00 from the event. The teen volunteers enjoyed running the games and meeting new people.
Anniston Army Depot Celebrates MOMC (11)

MOMC Celebrations at the Anniston Army Depot Child, Youth & School Services included an Easter Egg Hunt, Earth Day Celebrations, a Camouflage Day, and a Parade.
Bamberg Celebrates MOMC, by Doug DeMaio, USAG Bamberg PAO (8)

Parents and children of the Bamberg military community joined celebrate the Month of the Military Child. The kickoff for the month-long celebration began with a 5-kilometer fun run. Command Sgt. Maj. Bruce A. Lee presented awards to the winners of the run and thanked all for their participation in honoring the military child. The run was followed by an activity filled day for children.

Fort Carson - April 2nd 2009, Child Development Center children and Families together made placemats using camouflage stars. The children are able to use their placemats at home and be reminded of their life as a military child. The valuable time they spent with their parent making their placemats made this event even more special.

EGGSPERIENCE 2009 (6)

Fort Carson - For the past five years, Fort Carson, DFMWR has used the EGGSPERIENCE as a kickoff community event for the Month of the Military Child. Many activities were offered such as; an appearance from Spider Man, egg hunt, Donkey Cart rides, a magic show, arts and crafts projects, all facilitated by staff from Child, Youth and School Services.

The children spent the afternoon learning about Fire safety. There were given the opportunity to tour a fire truck and ambulance. They were even allowed to spray the fire hose.
Fort Bliss CYSS Bubble Extravaganza (2)

Children all enjoyed blowing bubbles.
Fort Bliss CYSS Earth Day Activities (6)

Children planted seeds, learned about recycling, water conservation, electricity conservation, trash to treasures (recyclables), recycling around the world including games.
Fort Bliss CYSS MOMC Carnival (5)

MOMC Carnival activities included was face painting, sack races, ball toss, egg on the spoon race, bowling, relay races, hoop toss, ball pit game and others.

To celebrate the MOMC Proclamation signing, children first had a mascot parade, then sat and listened while COL Manning, Mark Cauthers, CSM Tony Purdy, and Virgetta Johnson addressed the group and signed the proclamation. After, the children and parents stayed and enjoyed the music and sang and danced.
Fort Buchanan Easter Egg Hunt (8)

On 10 April 2009, Fort Buchanan Child, Youth & School Services celebrated the traditional Easter Egg Hunt. Children enjoyed face painting, sand table, art & crafts and goodies that were distributed among the families.
Fort Carson - A Time for Socializing at School Age Services and Youth Services (1)

The children at Fort Carson School Age Services enjoyed an Ice Cream Social for friends and family to attend, which integrated the pillars of CHARACTER COUNTS!

Children decorated quilt pieces pertaining to being a military child. These pieces were laced together and the quilts were displayed.

Fort Lee FCC Celebrates MOMC (10)

Fort Lee Family Child Care program celebrates the Month of the Military Child. Army Community Services conducted a "Pinwheel" Garden in which the FCC children had an opportunity to participate. The children also visted the post Veterinary Services to visit with all the staff pets.

On 30 April, 2009, the Fort Lee Child Development Center had their Grand Finale Parade featuring the Fort Lee US Army Band, Sparky the Fire Dog and the Fort Lee Fire Dept.

Each classroom at Fort McCoy invited all of the parents to join their children to celebrate the Month of the Military Child with a "Spring Fling". The parents were able to participate in some of the children's favorite activities.

Our parents enjoyed watching their children pay tribute to this great country as they marched around Fort Shafter CDC to patriotic music.

Freddy the Firetruck at Fort McCoy (1)

Freddy the Firetruck was a special visitor at the Fort McCoy Child Development Center to celebrate Month of the Military Child. Freddy read the book "If you Give a Mouse A Cookie" and was a big hit with all of the children. One of the children was so amazed with Freddy being able to talk that she said to Freddy, "Boy, Have I got ALOT to tell you".

For the month of April at the Ike Skelton Training Site, MO NG headquarters, we used a display case to highlight Guard kids across the state. The March Youth Newsletter asked Guard kids to submit patriotic art, poems and stories.

Children and youth at Sierra Army Depot participated in 3 different field activities with an emphasis on spelling, math and teamwork. Afterwards, they were invited to an ice cream buffet where staff spoke to them about the importance of military children.

The preschoolers enjoyed CYSS Middle School and Teens volunteers reading their favorite stories for MOMC.

Lock-In activities included Self Esteem building, Personality Development, Won Ton Cooking and beauty tips. The girls bonded, got to know each other and had a great time. They are already requesting for another lock in activity.

Schofield Barracks FCC Program invited all Providers to submit artwork from their children to be posted in the Schofield Barracks Commissary for viewing by the community.

Schofield Barracks Teens Support Special Olympics for MOMC (2)

Seven teens from the Schofield Barracks Teen Center helped with the Special Olympics Event on 4 April 09 at Stoneman Stadium. The teens had a great time helping others and they look forward to assisting at this event next year.
School Age Children at Sierra Army Depot Visit Ranger Station (2)

Spring Break School Age Services children at Sierra Army Depot enjoyed a day at the local county ranger station. Children met a ranger who spoke to them about the different kinds of animals that are found locally. Children were also able to meet Smokey the Bear who talked to them about fire safety.

Seven members of the Sierra Army Depot Mentorship Club volunteered to visit with the Child Development Home children on April 7, 2009. They read to the younger children and afterwards escorted them to the park to play and fly kites.

West Point Child Development Center Celebrates Every Day Heroes - Tree Planting Ceremony (13)

The West Point Child Development Center is visited by West Point Agronomist Bob Jones, who assisted in planting a beautiful Japanese Lilac tree. The children took part in the tree planting, and really enjoyed getting their hands dirty.

West Point Youth Center Celebrates Every Day Heroes - 4H Crusaders' Claymation (3)

For the Month of the Military Child, several youths from the West Point 4-H Crusaders (Finn Gage, Culann Gage, Josh Drake, D'Anthony Hall and Wesley Hall) did a project made of clay. They decided to send an astronaut in a rocket to the moon. When it landed, the astronaut would present to the alien a four-leaf clover representing 4-H.
West Point Youth Services 36th Annual Dance Recital Presented by SKIES Specialist, Kirsten Rautter - ACT 2 (35)

West Point’s 36th annual SKIES dance recital took place on May 2nd. 300 dancers ages 3-18 performed in the two-hour performance themed, “Just Dance” to an audience of 2,000 Family members, friends, and music lovers. The recital included ballet, tap, jazz numbers, and musical theater; their hard work and dedication were evident to everyone who attended the recital.
