When to Use Search Engines

Search engines use either first or second generation technologies.

First-generation search engines are those that use a “term relevancy ranking” method to present your results to you in a certain order.

Relevancy is determined from where your keywords are found, such as in the page title, the URL, and the topic headings, as well as how often and where they appear in the page content.

The ranking, or order in which they appear in your search results, is based on this relevancy.
