Satellite is another option for high-speed Internet access. For home use, it is similar to cable in terms of its downstream speed.

Satellite technology receives signals beamed from a space satellite to your home's satellite dish. You can also send signals to the space satellite.

• While it's a good alternative for broadband if the others aren't available, it could be affected by weather conditions.
• You also must have an unobstructed view of the southern sky to use satellite effectively.
