1998 VIP Award of Merit - Kim Kull

1998 VIP Award of Merit - Kim Kull

Kim Kull - Vicenza, Italy

1998 Very Important Patriot Award of Merit

Mrs. Kim Kull is undoubtedly a Very Important patriot to the community of Caserma Ederle, in Vicenza, Italy because of her untiring dedication and caring attitude. She has been actively involved in the community since her arrival, July 1996. Kim immediately joined the family support group doing whatever needed to be done such as contacting family members, participating in bake sales, attending meetings, and organizing functions. Currently, she is the family support group leader for D Battery, 1/319th Artillery. Her role as the family support group leader continues to make a difference especially with the arrival of new families. Kim never meets a stranger and possesses a unique quality of making people feel at ease and comfortable. Quality of life for the soldier and the family is always better when there is a "Kim" around to make the move a smoother transition. And when the soldier deploys to the field, he leaves feeling confident that his family will be taken care of in this new community.

Kim demonstrates her team player attitude as an active member in the Vicenza Enlisted Spouses Club (VESC). You can find her working in the sports booth selling refreshments to the community during baseball and soccer season. Or she is the first one to raise her hand and volunteer to setup or take down the VESC booth during the bazaar time or show up to sell crystal and hand crafted items. Whatever needs to be done at the time is where Kim will be. Her attitude is "Service First." A role model for the community and for our host nation, Italy. She is a positive ambassador

Volunteering is not just a word in Kim's vocabulary; it's her way of life. When she is not involved directly with the family support group or enlisted spouses club, she can be found volunteering at the elementary school with the third graders. Once again, taking a leadership role there as Room Mother and doing whatever needs to be done for the day. She can take a group out to play, chaperone a busload to a museum, or coordinate the best party the class has had all year. And still finds time to take care of a group of boys known as the Cub Scouts Pack #295. She is the fearless den leader. Her enthusiastic approach and can do attitude coupled with her sense of responsibility and initiative constantly ensures the cub scouts that their adventures together will be not only a learning experience but lots of fun. The parents are proud to know that their children are in such superb care. And Kim takes pride in her involvement in shaping the future leaders of America, the children.

Mrs. Kim Kull contributes to the quality of life daily in this community. She touches adults and children without them even realizing she has done so by setting the example of volunteering and giving of herself. She doesn't seek out personal recognition. For her it is enough to know she is contributing in a positive way to make the community a better place to work and play. What are her measurements of success? Take a look around and you will see third graders eagerly awaiting her arrival; cub scouts saluting the flag as it passes; families participating in the Company bake sales and car washes; and high school seniors applying for VESC scholarships. To our community, Mrs. Kim Kull is a Very Important Patriot!
