1999 – Nora Falls, Fort Sam Houston, TX
Ms. Nora Falls, Fort Sam Houston Army Community Service (ACS) volunteer, has been awarded the Emma Baird Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. The United States Army Medical Command nominated Ms. Falls for her service in many ACS programs at Fort Sam Houston.
Ms. Nora Falls served as an Information and Referral volunteer since 1975 contributing over 8,000 hours of service. She not only welcomes individuals to ACS but often to the community providing the first impression of Fort Sam Houston. She has a wealth of knowledge about the community and updates this information regularly. After several disasters, Ms. Falls was instrumental in assisting all levels of staff in setting up a Family Assistance Center. She ensured all needs of the family members and those staffing the center were met. Ms. Falls routinely assists the ACS staff with the preparation and execution of the Family Forum. Ms. Falls is a service-minded individual who is committed to teaching, guiding and supporting those around her. Her sincere concern for soldiers and their family members has been demonstrated over twenty-three years with consistent and continuous volunteer service at Fort Sam Houston.
