1998 – Janet Hill, Fort McClellan, GA

Mrs. Janet Hill was nominated by the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command for her service in many ACS programs at Fort McClellan, GA. Since 1978, Mrs. Janet Hill contributed over 4,200 hours of volunteer service to ACS where she is the sustaining force behind the English-As-A-Second Language Program. Mrs. Hill demonstrated great initiative by serving as both the chairperson and teacher for this program emphasizing her belief in the importance of providing people the opportunity to learn. She shared her unique teaching skills with individuals from numerous countries and a diversity of ethnic groups. Her dedication and professionalism resulted in training more than 1,500 students of many nationalities. As this program was unique to the area, it was made available to the civilian community. Mrs. Hill’s personal talents, commitment to excellence, and dedication have been a hallmark for the community. Her efforts epitomize the very meaning of "volunteerism" and has earned her the deep and lasting appreciation of a grateful community. Mrs. Hill's many volunteer efforts and history of serving the community has made a positive impact on the Fort McClellan military community.
