1996 - Mrs. Rhoda Allison - Fort Sam Houston, TX

Mrs. Rhoda Allison, Fort Sam Houston Army Community Service (ACS) volunteer, has been awarded the Emma Marie Baird Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Mrs. Allison was nominated by the U. S. Army Medical Command for contributing over 14,500 hours of service in ACS programs at many installations during the past 24 years. She made significant contributions in a variety of leadership positions to include Volunteer Supervisor, Historian, ACS bulletin editor, Red Cross Liaison, and Representative to the Voluntary Advisory Council. In addition, Mrs. Allison chaired committees such as Records, Recognition, English as a Second Language, and Lending Closet to name only a few. Mrs. Allison is committed to teaching, guiding and supporting those around her and leads individuals and programs to successful achievements. Her personal contact with volunteers and their families contributes significantly to successful retention of Fort Sam Houston's ACS volunteers. Mrs. Allison demonstrated a personal commitment toward helping others and maintaining high quality of life standards on Fort Sam Houston.
