1995 - Mrs. Bertie Woodward, Fort Carson, CO

Bertie Woodward Mrs. Bertie Woodward has been an Army Community Service volunteer for the past 24 years, amassing a total of 24,000 hours of service. She served as chairperson for the English as a Second Language and Citizenship Preparation programs. In addition to chairing these programs, Bertie taught ESL and Citizenship Preparation classes for the past 24 years. Bertie's special understanding of the needs of foreign family members enabled her to be a significant factor in the acculturation of many individuals. Her efforts in preparing prospective citizens for their exam has been noteworthy; resulting in more than 450 new Americans. Bertie has also been a member of the Annual Volunteer Banquet Planning Committee for the past 2 years as well as serving as an active contributor to the Fort Carson Baby Bundles program.
