Army OneSource in Second Life

Introducing Virtual Resiliency Campus in Second Life!

 

Second LifeAs part of the Army OneSource Community, the Virtual Resiliency Campus offers users engaging and enjoyable ways to build strength based on the five pillars of strength: Spiritual, Family, Social, Emotional and Physical.

The Army OneSource Community in Second Life is a virtual world that geographically dispersed Soldiers, Family, friends and other Community members can use to keep in touch with each other and their Army Community. By using an avatar, users can meet virtually to collaborate, socialize and participate in activities!

 

The Virtual Resiliency Campus consists of:

  • Spiritual Resiliency Center –Strengthens a person’s beliefs, principles or values.
    - Resources include a Faith Group Locator, Chaplain Finder and a connection to a live voice.
  • Family Resiliency Center – Helps the Family Units feel safe in a supportive and caring atmosphere.
    -Resources include meeting rooms, library and information center, and friendly neighborhoods ready for personal in-world family gathering or events.
  • Emotional Resiliency Center –Approaches life’s challenges in a positive, optimistic way.
    Resources include a Zen Rock Garden, Tai Chi/ mediation platforms, Memorial Candle Wall, and a Hall of Heroes Memorial Wall.
  • Social Resiliency Center –Develops relationships that are personally fulfilling.
    Resources include a coffee shop, disco and lounge, bowling alley and movie theatre.
  • Physical Resiliency Center –Encourages activities that promote exercise, nutrition, and strength.
    Resources include a soccer stadium and yoga and workout rooms.


The Army OneSource Community in Second Life is open to Army Staff, Volunteers, Veterans, Family and Friends. Join the fun and step into a virtual world!



Register Download Launch

Before you can get In-World, you must register and create an avatar. 

1) Click Register button below to get to the Second Life registration page.

2) Once you have accepted the terms, follow the registration instructions.

3) Click Submit when done.

 

 

 

After you registered and created an avatar, you need to Download the Second Life Viewer. 

1) Click the Download button below.

2) Locate the section "Your avatar is ready to explore and click Download.

3) From the Second Life Installer page, locate and click Download Now.

4) When prompted with "Do you want to run or save this file?" choose Run.

 

Now that you have downloaded the viewer, you can log-in to Second Life and join the Army OneSource Community from your desktop. To log-in:

1) Click the Second Life icon on your computer desktop.

2) Type in your First Name, (space) Last Name, and Password. For example, JonJonAZ Superstar.

3) Click Log-in.

Training Calendar

Have fun by joining one of Second Life's In-World Events. Exciting events are happening In-World, such as movie night, concerts, dances, bowling, jeep races, photo contest and more! join the fun today!

 

Note: To see the Training Schedule and the Events Calendar in the same view:

1) Click on the Events Calendar link above
2) Select Set Calendar Preference
3) Put checkmark by Training Calendar and Virtual Resiliency Campus Events & Workshops
4) Click Save Preference
